Peace and Palestine. Two words that have eluded each other for decades. After 60 years, we are yet to see the creation of a free and sovereign Palestinian state. And in these 60 years, a most bloody conflict has engulfed the region. The obstacles that face the establishment of a viable Palestinian state are numerous, and serious.
Not only have the Palestinian people been under the control of one of the most persistent, brutal and debilitating occupations of modern time, they also face a multitude of unprecedented economic, social and physical restriction. The constant furthering of this illegal occupation through settlements continues to steal land from humble Palestinian farmers and peasants.
A systematic approach of settlement colonization, wall building, and checkpoints has enclosed all Palestinian population areas, and has effectively created a series of Palestinian ghettos.
A situation that can be likened to apartheid.
The occupation has starved both the economy, and the peoples within. Military operations further push these people into despair and suffering.
Peace and Palestine seeks to inform about the situation faced by the Palestinian people, from the daily struggles, to the broader issues, and the obstacles in the creation of the so far elusive Palestinian state.
Contemporary media fails to cover the finer details. For the most part, the Palestinian struggle is misrepresented, and misinterpreted. To further this, myths and propaganda further intensify this misinformation. We strongly believe that through the proper distribution of information, we can educate and enlighten people about the true nature of the Palestinian struggle.
